Yet again the ECML falling over itself. Sat at York station where nothing SB is moving because of a points failure in the North(?) throat of Doncaster station that happened about 0930…

0940 occurred, track circuit showing occupied, has route locked north end of station.

Looking at Traksy, it is causing a lot of chaos. I can see and hear an XC service sat at South Yorkshire junction waiting for a platform. It has been there for at least 5 mins now.

Where are you attempting to travel to?
Not me, my girlfriend is trying to do York to Barnetby, I’m just stood on the platform like a muppet!

Bit scuppered, think her best bet is probably to get the Hull train and try get a lift or a bus over the Humber…

Ah yes, no other option at the moment.

LNER have requested coaches to operate between York and Newark, but that obviously takes time to organise and doesn’t help getting to Barnetby.

Hmm yes, if she needs to travel ASAP that might well be the best bet. If it's just a track circuit issue that might be cleared quite quickly and the backlog will be intense but should start to flow through without too much bother but if the fault is something more serious then this could go on for some time! I would speak to the Northern conductor before boarding about her intensions first though, I don't think a York to Barnetby ticket is valid via Hull (using the bus link to Barton-on-Humber) but I doubt they'll care too much with the disruption.

Stood on P4 at Donny with the 0944 Leeds. 1026 Leeds has been cancelled, a Great Central train has been through on the 2 way goods and a train from the Hull/ Scunthorpe line has been through on P3.
Some hi Viz clad activity around the down Leeds.

Route had been released, track circuit still showing occupied, but signal can be passed at danger, things **should** be moving immenently.

Signals to be passed at danger been discussed with signaller now but even ignoring massive backlog of trains that invisibly causes delays.

I’ll just buy her a ticket to Hull, she’s going to get her Barnetby one back from Delay Repay anyway let’s face it…

edit: with what has been said above I think she’s going to tough it out via Donny

We're waiting for 1011 Edinburgh, just had notification that it's been cancelled via Trainline although RTT has it stood outside the station

Bit of a convoluted route, but I think it is York to Hull, the 350 bus to Scunthorpe from stand 10, then depending on what TPE are doing, to Barnetby from there.

Platform 8 is unable to be accessed. Platform 4 needs signals passing at danger, all other routes released ok.

We've been told to get onto the next Edinburgh which is full and we might have to stand.

From what I can gather from Traksy, they are trying to get everything through P1 and P3 where they can.

This afternoon Sheffield was reporting "points failure in the Sheffield area" - is Donny in the 'Sheffield area'? Got to Doncaster fine, 16:05 to LKX was mildly delayed (and had platform altered with 2 min notice, only just had time to reach the front half of the train because I checked for updates every couple minutes), but unfortunately a LNER train in front has brake problems, so we've been sitting north of Huntingdon for an hour now.

There was a separate issue affecting platform 1-2 at Sheffield. Some EMR and Northern services were affected

Sheffield also had signalling issues this morning around the same time as the issues at Doncaster.

Points issues this afternoon at Sheffield
