From a post over on WNXX, it looks as though it's going to be hauled mk4 sets between Newcastle and Carlisle this year.

As per usual the services will be operated by HST, normally timetabled for 225

Anyone know the dates of the diversions?

Thanks in advance,

I did one trip last year which was Peterborough to Peterborough via Newcastle, Carlisle and Edinburgh, some of the scenery on the Tyne Valley is quite nice :)

If you can do it then do it as it's a good trip.

Have a look on the East Coast website, from memory the 2nd half of September and early October. The timetables were not online the last time I look but expect to see them in the next couple of weeks. The reservations are not avialable yet for those weekends so I suspect some timetable tweaking is still happening.

Guessing they'll still be stopping at Carlisle? Would this make a Hadrian's Wall Country Day Rover valid on these trains (using the same priciple that you could use a West Yorkshire Day Rover on the Leeds diverts earlier on in the year)?

I would assume that they'll be calling at Carlisle again, they have done all the other previous years, so yes a Hadrian's Wall Country Line Rover will be valid, that's what I bought when I went out on the HSTs between Newcastle and Carlisle in previous years.

Yes, there are passenger stops in the trains at Carlisle.

(This is also likely to be the relieving point for the drivers).

Saturdays 11th, 18th and 25th September and 2nd October.
Sundays 12th 19th and 26th September and 3rd October.
