EC Web Exclusive Fares disappear

Have just gone onto East Coast to book tickets and their new web layout hides the removal of the web exclusive fares offer. This used to be around 2% discount on advances plus an EC online only 49% off the Super Off Peak Single. Both have disappeared since yesterday!

Having now run their web team they tell me the offer ended yesterday. And this was publicised where exactly? The £60 flexible Super Off Peak Single I was buying for tomorrow is now £115.....

I'm not surprised the advance discount has gone as they've been steadily eroding it's value over the last 18 months or so. It used to be 11%! I'm a bit more surprised that the Super Off-Peak Single discount has gone, but equally not that surprised as it was a very good deal.

I still suspect that they're cracking down on things like this in preparation for the franchise going back into private hands.

The East Coast Trains website is still advertising the reduced fare SSS tickets and when I go onto the booking engine is still offering them for me. For instance Darlington to London is £115.70 at the standard rate, but is £60.15 on the East Coast Trains website.

The Advance discount is variable depending on the tier of ticket being sold, but again having selected for a random date next month I am still being offered the web discount.

Clearing your cookies/cache and logging out of the website if appropriate should fix this - the East Coast website was only listing EC-served stations in the station list for me last week until I did this!

*giggles* I rang their web team at 7pm who confirmed the deal was withdrawn last night. I go on website, no discounts, so reluctantly book advances. Check back now and they're back! Glad that I've got them reinstated, but can I get a refund on my advances please?

Update - rang East Coast customer services. Their website was basically FUBAR today during rollout, big apologies. Have bought discounted Super off Peak singles, have been told to collect both sets, don't put them into any barriers and post them back where they will refund the advances. Have got a case ref and everything.

Yes I noticed that EC booking engines were a bit wobbly today, and yesterday in fact. The rewards entries have also been having teething problems lately.
