Ticket machines on the ECML are apparently all offline this morning, report staff here at Newark NG ("it's a route peoblem we're told"). Going to be busy at the ticket offices in a bit, I expect - feel for the staff who will have to deal with the inevitable last minute grumpy buggers.

I hope they deal with them by opening barriers and allowing on-board payment / travel using booking references. It is not after all the passenger's fault. Passengers should be able to plan their arrival for the vast majority of the provided ticketing equipment to be working correctly.

I had wondered if there was a fault when I was passing through Kings Cross last night.

I may confess that I was not impressed with these new machines: nice idea, but the execution seems quite poor.

As I understand it, it was a problem with the way that data about stations was held, and subsequently sent to machines.

I believe the problem is now actively being resolved.

This explains why I couldn't pick up my ticket from one about 4PM yesterday! At least I was at Edinburgh Waverley so I could just use the ScotRail machine next door.

Do we know if this is resolved yet as I've got some tickets to collect at a VTEC station immediately before travel tomorrow afternoon?
