EC HST Repaint

I have word from several people that an EC HST power car has been painted into the new livery (similar to the 91s) and is currently just outside Wabtec Doncaster. Didn't see it myself, so apologies if this doesn't turn out to be true.

On a related note, I did see some Mk4s being moved around by 57304 at Wabtec. I think they'd just been repainted too.

I went through Donny earlier and didn't see any HST powercars. I did see the 57 but it was some distance away but couldn't see what was behind it.

I'm planning on going to Donny on Monday so I'll keep an eye out.

It passed over the viaduct at Wakefield hauled by a Class 67 with a mk3 and barrier in tow. Couldn't see the p/c number but it was named. I'm assuming it was on it's way to NL but I'm annual leave this week so I cant help with anything else, sorry

If this was Friday, as I was passing through Neville Hill, I saw 67025 with a barrier, Mk3 and power car, of which was 43290.

Also, the EMT set that East Coast now has, was sat in Neville Hill, but had a power car missing I think.

It was Saturday around 1830ish. I thought the 67 was 67025 but wasn't sure as I was paying too much attention to the p/c.

I saw a HST powercar with EastCoast Logos and EMT livery going south on a low loader on the M1 on Friday - somewhere south of Sheffield. I did a double-take as I drove past. Could it have been headed for Brush Loughborough perhaps?

Which also means that I have overtaken a Class 43 with a motor car!

To confirm...ex EMT 43072 was enroute to works for MTU engine fitment...43300 is currently on NL ....EC64 will have 43074 and 43300 after repairs are completed...

I doubt it, the MTU engines are no longer compliant with emissions regulations so afaik no further powercars can be re-engined

Which was the reason I seem to remember that GC ended up re-engining their HSTs quite quickly and suddenly as otherwise the would have ended up either keeping Valentas (which would please some ) or getting a really small non-standard fleet.

Also hasn't it been said that the EC EMT set is keeping it's VP185s hence why it's staying on diagrams that see it coming back to Neville Hill most nights.

Bakers1970 is correct. Both power cars will be fitted with MTU engines.

You are correct that they are no longer compliant with emissions regulations and you cannot buy one new, but the engines are coming from the spares that were purchased before it was "illegal" to do so.

I thought the same as you guys, if spares were available then fitting them wouldn't be an issue, it was just the engines were no longer in production due to not being compliant. Was there not a similar thing with the class 66s? I thought the p/c might have been 300 as the plate was small and black but wasn't 100% with ECs current naming campaign

Yes definitely right, 43300 is indeed in the 'new' East Coast livery similar to recent class 91's repaints...look damm good too!!

Just wondering how many different livery types East Coast need?

I suppose, seeing as it's now 2013 when the new 15-year ECML franchise is supposed to start.

Well I think it looks quite good on the 43 itself but it clashes somewhat with the NX white on the coaching stock.

Yes I agree. However I personally don't like that livery on the 91's, so I was hoping that it wasn't applied to the 43's.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but is that an ex EMT power car? If not surely the MML one will be treated.

I think the livery looks better than the 91s though there is something rather industrial and depressing about it

I agree. Just compared to GNER red and Navy it really does look naff. Even the font used for the East Coast lettering is uninspiring. EC need a clever logo and to get the entire fleet uniform as soon as possible. The stock looks very untidy compared with other IC operators.
