what a mad couple of weeks EC have had....

16:00 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross due 21:06
Details:
This train is being delayed between Darlington and York and is now expected to be 160 minutes late.
Due 23.38 at KGX
and all the following [stn]EDB[/stn] to KGX have massive delays

whats the maximum time a driver can work for without a break?
would an EDB to KGX have a change of crews? if so where?

Alan1310 is correct that a relief crew will normally take over at Newcastle on Edinburgh to Kings Cross workings.

In this case the 16:00 Edinburgh to Kings Cross was unfortunately involved in a fatality at Northallerton, causing the delay, and the driver was quite understandably relieved on site so I've heard.

Is Newcastle the main crew-change for Scotland - London routes and viva-versa?

What about Inverness/Aberdeen - London routed? change at Newcastle as well?

Do Sleeper train staff also change, or do they stay for the duration?

Newcastle is one of the main changeover points, although there are some at Edinburgh.

Caledonian Sleeper traincrews change at Preston, or Carlisle, I believe, I can't remember which. The drivers for the Caledonian Sleeper are part of the same link that work the postal trains up and down the WCML.

On the west coast main line the southbound Highland Sleeper is shown to make crew relief stops at Carlisle and Warrington and the northbound Highland Sleeper and Lowland Sleeper in both directions shown to make crew relief stops at Warrington.

Also

the Fort William portion of the Highland Sleeper is driven between Edinburgh and Fort William in both directions by Drivers from ScotRail’s Glasgow Queen Street and Fort William Depots.
