Hi. Does anyone know whether the former EMT buffet which transfered to EC along with the full set is still at Kilmarnock. I remember taking the buffet out of the set and replacing it with I think 40810 but I'm not sure of when that was. If it's still there it has been there a whileso I wonder what they're doing with it. I know when it went through it's C6 with EMT any corrosion work and new skirting was done. I have tried a google search and the only thing I got was pictures of EMT coaches at Kilmarnock. Thanks in advance!

I can't answer your question but I can pose a related question: why do the EMT sets still have a buffet car? It's never used... (or is that where the kitchen facilities for First Class are?).

You've answered your own question, that is indeed where the kitchen is!

I don't understand why EMT don't just use the buffet with their own staff instead of having Gourmless doing STD trolleys it makes no sense at all. So on EMT trains is the buffet actually bricked up or is it still there just unused?

Still there but unused except for when "technical difficulties" (as they announce it!!) prevents the trolley from passing, when the trolley is stationed inside the counter.

It looks absolutely rubbish.

Is it still a rumour that EMT are thinking of binning the STD RG trolley when the contract is next up and reverting to the buffet with the current house staff?

Im guessing that EC64's buffet is still at Kilmarnock. The spare EC buffet that is currently in the set is 40805.

I've been told that even the EC buffet thats in the rake now is still non-standard to the rest of the buffet fleet at EC ( something to do with the kitchen layout apparently). That's why until the EMT set came along it was practically never used and sitting at Craigentinny spare.

That buffet is one of the cars that was modified for the Manchester-St Pancras service that Midland Mainline ran while the WCML was been upgraded.

is this offending buffet the reason why the X EMT set cant offfer the full EC Menue?
And on a related note is this set getting a full Malard interior?
If so when? Il miss the IC70s but not the lack of plugs on the occasions it gets this far

The midland buffet even though it is slightly different inside is the same sort of buffet/kitchen to the rest of the EC fleet. The silver EC buffet that's in it now isn't which is why they obviously would rather modify the EMT one than have the EC spare in it permanently. As mentioned above the current buffet is ex-VXC/MML.
