EC Advance Singles

Can anyone please explain the reason for East Coast Trains (EC) not releasing their cheap advance singles over the weekend of March 26/27th?

I had noted that a similar embargo (is that the right word?) was in place for the previous weekend, but has now been lifted ie no restrictions.

I'm aware that over holiday weekends this might be the case to grab extra revenue whilst the sun shines but the only thing on over the weekend in question are Burns night celebrations!

I could understand cheap fares not being available in Scttish land, but not the whole of the EC network.

Most likely because a timetable has not yet been confirmed, due to possible weekend engineering work.

I think its because it is far too soon and advance tickets at the moment are only available upto end of January /beginning of Febuary

I do wonder if the OP means 26th-27th January?

Tickets are now available for travel up to and including Friday 01 February 2013 with the exceptions of Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 January.

I suspect it is related to engineering works, I would imagine Network Rail are not able to confirm timings at present.

Burns Night is towards the end of January, so yes, it looks like it was a typo.

Apologies to all...I do mean January!

It was the same the previous weekend..an embargo on cheap advances over the 19th/20th January weekend then this embargo being lifted sometime during this past working week.

"Embargo" makes it sound like some ruse to rip-off the travelling public.

In reality, EC are unable to open reservations for that weekend yet, as they are yet to confirm their timetable as Network Rail uses the weekends to do essential maintenance and upgrade work to the tracks and equipment.

Have some patience!

It's not an 'embargo'; the timetable needs to be confirmed and then reservations will open and Advance tickets released.
