Caerphilly - Newport has been looked at however I don't think re-opening will happen for a good while yet.
The WG have again poured cold water over the proposals for the long campaigned/talked about station at Brackla which was to be served by the Maesteg - Cardiff services. Network Rail have stated in the past that it would be difficult to path services currently however due to the time penalty of calling at the station however electrification should reduce this.
