Quick question, anyone know what all is happening at Eastleigh station? The footbridge has been completely covered outside and inside. It does leak like a sieve and is absolutely freezing, but what are they actually doing to it. I also notice that the waiting room / café on platform 2/3 is closed for a month from the 28th so I assume thats getting a refurbishment.

It's basically an overhaul/renewal of the footbridge roof as existing. with the original steelwork repaired, because as far as I recall (apart from the modern block on the island platform) the station is a listed structure. The original plan involved a lot of UPVC, but I'm not sure what materials were eventually agreed upon. They are also renewing the skylights over the stairwells, and the up and down platform canopy roofs at the London end of the station.
