I think two units are off lease from WMR (196009 & 196010 iirc) so they would presumably be available as soon as trainee drivers are ready to learn the traction and route.
OT for infrastructure, apologies - the 196s for Chiltern require the full GOP (Guard Operation Panel) mod as per WMR?

What is the geological strata in the area of the alleged subsidence?
The bedrock around Calvert is mudstone; superficial deposits are clays, silts and mudstones, alluvium from local rivers/stream.

You can find out more on the BGS here:

But unsure whether there are more detailed surveys… been a while since I’ve looked at anything like that.

Do they really mean subsidence or could it be a section of the new embankment has settled /slipped?

With the Bedford - Bletchley line currently out of use, due to effects of 23-Sept flooding, do any of you know whether the Peak Forest (Cemex and GBRf) turns will resume in the near future? Today's was cancelled.

Mods - if the Cemex turns are not for the EWR work, then by all means move this post to another thread (perhaps to "Rail Freight Flows and News").. Many thanks.

This is a 'Q' train Runs as required so resumption can be any time.
Todays train ran via WCML so I guess that is always the back up that can be scheduled at short notice.

The concrete plant at Bletchley is a longstanding facility for general supply in the area via the local road network, I don’t think it’s of particular relevance to EWR, especially as main construction has been complete for nearly a year now.

Who is responsible for this element of the track, EWR or HS2?
At the intersection area EWR laid the track on an embankment built by HS2, but the significant majority of the HS2 built embankment is east of the intersection bridge. There‘s only a few hundred yards of HS2 built embankment west of the bridge, ie the bridge is not in the middle of the total length.

Thank you. So which part of that is the subsidence located?

Thanks @swt_passenger That makes sense. Is it the plant (or the location) formerly (late 1980s - early 1990s) used by RMC Roadstone? I used to watch pairs of 37/5s bring RMC loads into Bletchley.

If you mean in the area between the mainlines and the flyover, yes it’s the same location. The existing approach road to the concrete plant was a significant constraint in the high level station access, and is the main reason there’s no direct access to/from street level on the east side of the new station, (however there is an emergency exit). I think this point about the concrete plant access has been discussed a couple of times earlier in this thread.

I don’t know exactly, all we have is the earlier somewhat vague information. Even if we had the exact chainage I think there’s still a gap in the sectional appendix so that might not help much…

I noticed that there is also a TSR in place at the Bicester end of the line in the vicinity of the former level crossing at Charbridge Lane. I suspect this could be related to the nearby site compound being cleared and the temporary access being removed.

Why would that necessitate a TSR? No trains are planned to run over the line in the near future.

But some trains might run over the line like a freight driver route learning, test runs, and even trains to repair the line.

I am booked to travel over the line in just over a month's time so I hope my driver has learned the route.

As the line has not yet been handed over to NR for traffic, that's rather unlikely. Any trains running to 'repair the line' would be working within a possession anyway.

It cannot be the 20th and the 25th or the end of the month. Which of the sources that gives these dates is the more officially reliable?

Since this date has already changed twice since originally proposed back in August, I'm not sure it really matters.

It was "by the end of the month" so I can rule end of month out in favour of later reports of 25th or 20th.
20/10 is a Sunday so I would think hand over on a Sunday is really get it ready for Monday.
25/10 is a Friday so a working day.
That is enough over analysing for me.
Needless to say its getting close judging by how close the alternatives are.
