Is there any regular traffic over the curve from the District Line to the Barnes line at Putney these days/

I reckon there's about a dozen each daytime, especially on the peak shoulders. Some then disappear at Wimbledon Park so presume they go to the depot there.

Yes, PSUL (linked above) only lists moves a passenger can use, something like realtimetrains for East Putney is the answer, using advanced mode and operator SW shows 20 on a typical weekday:

I never realised that working passenger services went through East Putney on the main line. Any reason why they still exist? Parliamentary reasons? It doesn't seem like they go to any Waterloo platforms not easily accessible from the Main Line (8 and 11).

It's a diversionary route for engineering works in the Wimbledon - Clapham Jn area, and has seen all day use every now and again over the last few years. I don't think it's parliamentary in the sense that it isn't up for closure - it may be more to do with maintaining contracted rights for the passenger diversionary capability. Before privatisation it was a BR route with LU running powers, in fact when 'I were a lad' all the stations were in standard SR colours and signage, even though BR never called.

However the main purpose is as an ECS route, and it is apparently essential to the train plan, mainly because it allows trains to get to Wimbledon Park depot in the down direction without having to cross the main fast lines.

Its to maintain route knowledge for the drivers and guards from Depots other than Wimbledon and Waterloo (who work the ECSs over it) such as Woking and, I think, Basingstoke depots.

The NSE branding on these stations lasted quite a while. The line was disposed of when the SWT shadow franchise was created on 1 April 1994; same time as the Waterloo and City. Think it was sold for a quid.

I do remember that tickets issued at East Putney before 1994 were BR Orange/White tickets and bought from an NSE style red ticket machine. (I was quite young, but I do remember it).

Would there be any scope for bringing Clapham - Wimbledon via Point Pleasant Junction back into regular passenger service, say as an extension of London Overground? (With the associated reconstruction of the Flyover and re-building of Platform 4, which is not in a good way).

Strawberry Hill not signing it always struck me as odd.

Yep I remember wondering why those stations all has Network Southeast signage on the platforms rather than LUL - funny old quirk really.

sorry, I thought someone said not all of these were passenger services!

They are the passenger trains (hence the 2K77 or 1B01), there are quite a few empty stock trains as well but they run as 5A01 or possibly 3A01.

If it starts with a 1 or a 2 its a passenger train, if it doesnt then it isnt.
