I had the misfortune to travel on an EMT train yesterday (12:55 Px - Sheff). The stock, a Meridian, arrived ECS, presumably from Cricklewood? Anyway, it was full of litter;papers,cans,wrappers etc.etc It felt like I was riding in a skip. Surely if it had come in from CW sidings it could have been cleaned? Virgin have travelling cleaners and they do a damn good job IMO. The lavatory was awash with foul smelling liquid and particularly rancid.The guard/train manager/whatever they are called today, was CHEWING; dammed unprofessional. The running gear was trying to make its escape too by the noise it was making. What a shower of ****. Very disappointing.

Emt usually do too, from ym experience the meridans have been very clean with litter clearers constantly touring train

Last year i travelled a few times from St Pancras and the trains (especially the toilets) had definately not been cleaned with rubbish everywhere.

Not tried them this year so will wait and see if things have changed.

Well whenever I have been on EMT, I can't say I have experienced anything like what you are saying.

Not saying that that doesn't happen or hasn't happened but they are also kind, courteuous, well presented and the facilities are fantastic as well.

If you think that's bad, imagine stabling a late night train at Huntingdon full of rubbish and then letting it go back into service without being cleaned?

Shouldn't happen but it's down to the TOCs to ensure they have staff who can least litter pick the trains.

As to EMT, last time I got a 222 was Sheffield to St Pancras with the only problem I had was the air con - was akin to sitting in a fridge the whole trip!!!

Why is it that many trains on the Midland Main line are filthy externally? The Meridians seem to fair better but for years & years now i often think the HSTs look a disgrace.

Under MML I got a meridian from St Pancras and when I pressed the button to open the door, my two fingers were black with dirt! And I couldn't really see out of the window...

I have to say, on the many occasions when I've caught EMT services between Wakefield and St Pancras (both ways) I can't think of any occasion when they've been anything other than spotless.
