I see EMT are recruiting qualified drivers at Nottingham.

Can anyone give me an idea of routes, traction, rest day pattern, earliest start, latest finish, night work. The usual sort of stuff when considering jumping ship!

Many thanks.

I recall hearing that traction signed from Nottingham are Class 153s, 156s and 158s, with local routes being operated from there.

I believe that HSTs and Class 222s are run from Derby for the Midland Mainline.

I don't know the ins and outs of working patterns and that, as I'm merely an aspirational future EMT trainee driver, hoping to be based at Nottingham one day. ;)

Routes signed from Nottingham depot are;

Nottingham - Skegness (inc. Grantham)
Nottingham - Lincoln (some sign Newark North Gate)
Nottingham - Leicester
Nottingham - Derby
Nottingham - Sheffield via Alfreton
Nottingham - Norwich (via Grantham and Melton Mowbray)
Nottingham - Worksop
Sheffield - Liverpool (via Stockport and Warrington Central)
Lincoln - Peterborough via Joint
Derby - Chesterfield
Derby - Matlock
Derby - Crewe

There are also diversionary routes via Toton, Beighton, Romily and Chat Moss for the Liverpool - plus via Pinxton for the Robin Hood Line to Worksop.

I'm not sure on the link structure, but you certainly don't sign most of these from the start - I'm not a driver or based at Nottingham, so I'll leave that for someone with more knowledge of what the intial core routes are to answer. Rest day pattern is based on a 4 day working week.

Traction is 153/156/158, with some signing 222/HST for use on local routes.

Many thanks for the info.

With Derby being fairly close by and seemingly covering most of the high speed work, would I be right in thinking Derby would be the more 'popular depot of the two?

When I went for Trainee Depot Driver assessments earlier this year, a lot of people did seem to be interested in going to Derby for that very reason. I personally preferred Nottingham because of its locality.

EMT's Academy building somewhat overlooks Derby Etches Park Depot. I recall a lot of people at my Stage 1 assessment looking out the window adoringly at it, lol. (Okay, I was too admittedly. ;) )

It depends what you're after. Derby drivers mostly sign London, Derby - Crewe and Nottingham - Matlock.

The route card at Nottingham is much more extensive in terms of variety though. I believe the 'baby link' sign Nottingham - Worksop (plus extension to Manton Wood Colliery Siding between Worksop and Retford), Nottingham to Matlock and Leicester to Lincoln currently. I believe there was some talk of this changing with the basic route knowledge becoming Nottingham to Liverpool plus diversions but I don't know if this went ahead.

Nottingham also has more daytime shed driver turns than Derby.
