Hi there

I am trying to find out what routes EMT accept Groupsave on? I was planning on a group of us travelling to Ely from East Mids Parkway and the cheapest option I thought I had found based on information on the BR Fares website was to buy returns between EMP and Nottingham and then use Groupsave between Nottingham and Ely. However, whenever I try and book online the Groupsave fare between Nottingham and Ely never shows up? I have booked Groupsave online before with no issues so I don't understand why this doesn't show up as an option?

I don't want to get to the station on the day and be refused it because it doubles the price and i'm responsible for ticket prices for the group!

Cheers

EMT has its own special version of GroupSave which is only available on "selected routes". I don't know whether it is sold online.

EMT Groupsave is weird. It is only available on flows where there is a GR3 or GR4 ticket type (these are Groupsave 3 and Groupsave 4). They don't accept groupsave discounted tickets on any other flow. It certainly used to be possible to pay EMT Groupsave fares on Trainline powered booking engines, the trick was to search for 1 Adult as that is how the tickets are issued.

I don't know what is going on as I, too, cannot seem to get booking engines to sell me that fare.

If you don't want to buy it on the day, perhaps try using a ticket office in advance if you can. There is no other solution that can be more efficient.

Hi there

Yes i'd found it on the BR Fares website which is why it surprised me that I couldn't book it online as I have done in the past with LM and AGA. Thanks for your replies, i'll ask at the bookin office when i'm next at the station

Cheers

Out of interest, does anybody know where the BR Fares website gets it's information from? Is it 100% accurate?

Its changing shortly anyway, it'll change to being a 34% discount from anywhere between 3 and 9 adults.

Does this mean EMT are joining the normal groupsave scheme, or is it just that they're changing their own scheme to match the changes to the regular one?

EMT Groupsave will remain the same, as will Scotrail's Groupsave (IIRC), it's the Groupsave discount that is changing, not the Groupsave ticket type(s).
