East Midlands Power Boxes

G'day everyone,

With the closure of the Power Boxes at Derby, Trent Junction and Leicester are they all likely to be demolished? I'm assuming that Trent will be as I understand that the MR cottages need to go to make way for HS2.

I'd bet that Derby gets kept. As they are fairly sizeable they are useful.

My guess would be that whilst the actual first floor signalling operation is no longer in use, there is probably still some legacy cabling & panels in the ground floor rooms still connected to operational systems. Unless there is a need to use the land for something else (like HS2), there's no reason to move it elsewhere.

The box at Leicester still houses the interlocking which is now controlled from the EMCC. The S&T mess room, stores etc... are still in use which are also in the PSB building. The plan is to get rid of the portakabin offices at Leicester and move the offices in to the box as these are currently on land that isn't owned by the railway.

West Hampstead PSB will be retained, I understand, for messing and office facilities once it becomes disused for signalling trains.
