east Lancs rail freight

not sure if this is the right section to be posting in been a newbie is there any rail freight running out of east lancs still its been a very long time since i have really spent any time around Blackburn station just wounded if anyone knows thanks in advance

thanks for that info still trying to get bk up to date in this hobbie lol i can remember when you could buy the railfreight timetable book thats how long i have been away lol

Believe it or not, you can still buy "the railfreight timetable book" (it's called
Freightmaster and I have been publishing it for 19 years now!); I also have
an online version (see sig) which is updated every day (the book is only
updated four times a year).

The vast majority of those trains will not run - that's the difference
between 'automated' data feeds such as RTT and the Freightmaster
timetables which I manually edit to remove all the dross!

The Chirk timber train currently runs via Shap I'm afraid, so the only
regular daytime freight services through Blackburn on weekdays are
the (often 60-hauled) Lindsey to Preston bitumen tanks, the recently
introduced Clitheroe to Avonmouth cement train and the DRS-operated
departmental from Carlisle to Crewe (6K05).

In addition to those, the RHTT (water cannon) train passes
through Blackburn on weekday evenings around 1930-40,
top and tailed by two DRS 66/4s.

If it is Gilbraith's you mean, then I believe so. There was a photograph in the Railway Herald about two months ago which was described as the last freight from Gilbraith's, but didn't go into details why.

There wasn't much freight originating there though - all freight through Blackburn these says is just that: through traffic.

thanks for the info when i get a bit more active i will look at getting the freightmaster you would not beleave how expencive it is restarted bk up in this hobbie lol looking forward to getting out for a few hours next week on a east lancs day ranger so might drag my self up to the clitheroe aera thanks for the info and i found that realtraintimes a bloody good site spent hours playing on it last night
