I noticed that NR/Southern have started to install ticket barriers at East Grinstead station; having removed the platform facing windows to achieve this.

My question is - why is this being done when the station is being scheduled to be demolished and rebuilt on a different alignment to the present structure? Surely this is a waste of money to put them in/take them out again - or are they being retained in-situ somehow?
