Is there a particular reason why the off-peak service is doubled, but only on Thursday and Friday? It does seem rather bizarre. I can't believe it is demand-led, so my only thoughts are (a) there still aren't enough crew to cover Mondays to Weds, or (b) it's some kind of maintenance regime, like the Southeastern regularly slashing off-peak trains for track inspection purposes.

Anyone know?

It’s even more bizarre than that, it’s a full half hourly service 5 days a week during school holidays, and Thu and Fri only during term time.

I don’t know how they are going to show that in the timetables, which of the Sussex/Surrey/Croydon school term dates they are going to use (as the route passes through at least those 3 council areas), and why they think they have more drivers and OBSs available during holiday periods.

Luckily, West Sussex, Surrey and Croydon state schools all have the same school holiday timetable in 25/26. I bet they didn't check, though. Quite a few areas have a different February half-term and Easter holiday from the one that these three authorities do.

Oh, and anyone getting an East Grinstead train from Clapham Junction ... the holidays are different in Clapham.

The Bluebell Railway has Golden Arrow Christmas Dining Trains on Thursdays and Fridays but it's an evening departure from Sheffield Park.
