East Croydon Trams

Hello there people, I have been offered a new job in Elmers End and need to work out travel costs!

I plan to catch a train to East Croydon and then jump on a tram to Elmers End and obviously catch a tram back to East Croydon after work, Monday to Friday.

What I would like to know is what is the cheapest way of doing this please?
I believe each journey on the tram is £2 so that would be £20 a week but someone I spoke to seemed to think there is a way of getting discount tickets?

Each Tramlink fare is the same a bus fare £1, when using an Oyster card. I would advise you get one of these, plus from the new year you can use this Oyster card on the National Rail trains from East Croydon.

Travelcards covering any of zones 3,4,5 or 6 are valid on all tram services. Bear in mind, however, that East Croydon NR station requires a Zone 5 ticket

Surreytraveller I will be getting the train from East Grinstead to East Croydon which I have found out is £38 per week.

So it looks like the tram will cost me £1 each journey if I get a oyster card.

Total weekly travel £48.

I think you'll be slightly better off getting an East Grinstead to Zone 5/6 Travelcard - £46.50 per week at the moment. Saves the hassle of having two tickets, as well as giving you the option for extra tram journeys at no extra cost.
