east croydon to reigate connection

can anyone tell me the platform from east croydon to catch the reigate train during week days at peak time (8.00am - 9.00 am). The national railway enquiries are not able to let you know the platform number as they have a dispute of some sort. Many thanks

Look at the departure board when you enter East Croydon and it will show the platform for each train. Platforms are subject to change at short notice.

To go to Reigate you mostly have to change at Redhill.

Most trains to Redhill leave from platform 6 normally but some use platform 3.

Just check when you get there.

Thank you for your help. Usually national rail enquiries online lets you know in advance which platform to go to. I was just hoping that someone who goes to Reigate from East Croydon would see this message.

NRE has had a technical problem showing platforms at some stations for some time.

Www.realtimetrains.co.uk manages to do this, which is where I found the information for 0800-0900.

Of the trains to Redhill, only the 0820 normally uses platform 3 in that time

But you still need to check when you get there!

It isn't the half hourly service that is poor, it is that almost all of the connections to Reigate are sub-optimal, particularly at 0830 out of the 'prime' train from Victoria, Clapham Junction and East Croydon.

The timetabling of these trains causes a mad dash at Redhill for the Reading train rather than a more sensible connection, exactly when people who start work at 0900 would want to be travelling.

Also, passengers from Clapham Junction can either catch the through train at 0708, catch the 0723 with a 14 minute connection at Redhill or the 0808 with its unreliable nominal 3 minute connection at Redhill.

Roll on December 2018 and perhaps something better.
