East Coast Storm problems

Not a good night for the East Coast.
Earlier wind damage caused delays near Chester-le-Street. Some delays.

Now Grantham Station has roof damage which means platform 1 is closed to traffic. Reported cause is 'gale-force winds in the area' which is plausible but not sure if it's really that strong.
I'm on the 1D32, just leaving Grantham. We were held about 10 minutes south of the station, and then entered at walking pace. A good job it's not earlier in the day or far more people would be delayed.
With OHLE at 25kV I guess the railway can't be too careful in such conditions (and indeed for other wind-related issues). I am a bit surprised the route hasn't had a blanket speed restriction (maybe just not yet...)

It was gusting up to 50mph with heavy rain about an hour or two ago, but has calmed down considerably. I'm a couple of miles out of town and had the windows leaking in due to the rain - duly reported for attention.

Very high winds in York all day, doesn't surprise me that there was some disruption!

yet oddly enough it is now perfectly calm here in Newark, just 12 minutes north of Grantham (where it was blowing hard and raining heavily).

Came home on a delayed train (think due to an earlier stopper being stuck due to trespassing?) and Hatfield was incredibly windy and wet.

When I got home, it sounded like the house was going to fall down but now - as said above - it's totally still.

I'm due to fly on Saturday so hope we get some respite from the bad weather then if it's true storms and bad weather is on the way over the next week.
