Hmm, I really do wonder who is doing the writing/coding for East Coast at present.

Their latest email for their Rewards program reads:

Join now for

• Money off tickets wherever you travel
• Free East Coast Wi-Fi
• Free East Coast First Class return ticket

There are no disclaimers, starred comments or anything so one could rightly construe that by joining you get all of the above whereas in reality you earn points to obtain the last two. I cannot actually see how you get money off!

Also from the email if you click the 'Join' link it takes you to a sign in page, not a register (or sign in if you are already a member page). If you then sign in with your existing East Coast account details you get:

There has been an error
Could not retrieve content for user

D- for effort I think!

I had no problems joining from the e-mail.
I just followed the few links and it was done.

Yup, can sign up now - looks like the issues from last night have been fixed. Also nice that they award points for all previous purchases made since the launch of Rewards.

Still think their email was badly worded though!

To earn East Coast rewards, you have spend £22 or more on other TOC's tickets. Is that £22 per ticket or £22 per transaction ?

This could make a difference as I'm thinking of spending approx £40 combined on two separate train tickets, which would boost my rewards total in one go.
