How many mk4s/91s in the silver and how many in the grey version of the livery?

How many rakes have been repainted and how many to go?

Also is the ex EMT HST going to keep its interior for the forseeable future? If FGW are keeping them for Cornwall they will have plenty of coaches at their disposal...

Defiantly more than one, I bagged two crossing over at Chevington loop on Saturday (ears still ringing from the second one), both full blue sets followed by a full East Coast Silver set. Video available here

What is the plan for the EC fleet, are they still painting them or have they gave up now since the franchise is supposed to go next year?

I think the grey is basically an undercoat? C2C will also be relet 2013 so presumably bidding for that will commence soon.

I prefer the grey colour the've used for the doors rather than the one they've used for the bodies. I think they should have used the darker grey for the colour scheme, even if that meant choosing a different colour for the logos.

Then again I think we should revert all liveries back to BR era ones, VWC, EC, FGW and XC should have InterCity Swallow and regional services should revert back to Regional Railways and local variations with just the franchise name, it would be handy for the public as they can identify the expresses from regionals and it is also better when there are cascades as all that needs changing is a sticker.

What I like DB to explain is why their ICE services with a mainly white livery and a red band can be kept so clean even in passenger service while the NX base livery gets so dirty so very quickly.

As to liveries, what should have happened is for the UK to follow the French and just split BR into two companies, have BR PLC operate the train services and Network Rail operate the track/signalling.

Would save so much hassle had this been done.

One thing to note on either 107 or 109 (can't remember which one, although I'm inclined to go with 109) is that they've left the front skirt under the buffers the GNER dark blue colour while the rest of the loco' is in the new East Coast silver. Looks ridiculous!

perhaps the required parts were not available during the repair/repaint and rather than stand a loco down (which could otherwise be in trafic) EC decided to put the loco back into traffic and change out the parts later during planned maintenance

Personally speaking I think the 91s and HSTs look best in the dark blue GNER livery; I'm not entirely sure why but it just seems a lot better than grey.
