Do these run MTU jobbies?

I've just spent a weekend down in london and seen plenty of power cars - they're a bit noisy ain't they!? Travelled on one when the MTU units were new and noticed how quiet the power unit was.

Two EC powercars sounded positively horrible on my travels! Almost like a top end rattle.

They are MTUs, unless you saw the set on hire from EMT which uses VP185s

Unless the power cars said East Midlands Trains on the side then they will have had MTUs.

Depends what you like I suppose. The MTU sounds powerful and controlled whereas the Valenta screams and is full of drama (and often clag). So each to their own. Personally I prefer the scream of a Valenta over the grumble of the MTU ;)

To be honest chaps, these two units sounded very different from the rest of the MTUs I've heard. Almost unwell.
