East Coast diversions Feb 12?

It shows on National Rail that there is track work affecting East Coast trains on Feb 12 and train times are revised. Ie 9:00 departure from kings cross is leaving 20 mins earlier.

Are services diverted? Or just running slow?

The following alterations will apply:
09:00 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh will be retimed to leave at the earlier time of 08:40
10:03 London Kings Cross to Leeds will be retimed to leave at the earlier time of 09:00
09:03 London Kings Cross to Leeds and the 09:30 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh will not run

I saw that on National Rail... what I was wondering is, is the longer journey times due to just slow running? Or are trains actually diverted? Does it always say on National Rail if a train is to be diverted?

Interesting - looking up the timetable for the 0840 - it has to double-reverse at Finsbury Park - from there it seems to continue as normal!

Indeed it does... it goes out on the up fast and switches to the down just north of Finsbury Park. Any idea why? It seems to leave King's Cross on fast no 1, which leads directly onto the down fast, but switches to fast no 2 (up fast) at Copenhagen Junction. Presumably there will be a blockage on the down fast.

But still, why reverse back to Finsbury Park after the switchover? Why not just continue?
