Hi Guys, I have been visiting this site for a while but this is my first post, go easy.
In December last year I applied and was successful for a CSA role with East Coast. Since then I have emailed HR for info about recruitment. She said The Manager at Kings Cross would be in touch as they are taking people on n Feb,anybody else in this position?

Thanks

Don't worry, this is common practice not just with East Coast but with the railway in general. You have done the hard part by passing your assessment, now it's just the waiting game. I know how frustrating it can be but it'll be well worth it.

Mine also still says 'pending' on the application section so I wouldn't worry. I have also heard it is a slow process within the railway, guess I will have to wait and check my emails, just want to get started. Thanks for the replies :)

Hi everyone!

I applied for an on-board CSA position, based in Newcastle, last week. I've just received an email saying that my application had been shortlisted and that I have to complete a video interview...

I'm a little uncomfortable with the idea of recording myself answering interview questions - has anyone else received this email? Better yet, has anyone done the video interview and can give some advice?

Thanks,
Joseph :)

Well done on getting this far!

The video interview seems more daunting than it is.

Looking into the web cam/iPad you just have to read the questions
On the screen and press record, it gives you 2mins to answer but I only used a max of 1min on each question. You get to practice before hand so you can see yourself and adjust what you need to.

You will be fine, good luck!

Thanks for the help! It helped calm my nerves!

Did my video interview earlier - the questions were just like real interview questions! Nothing threw me that much since I had already made some notes which came in handy, and you had 2 minutes to prepare for each question (as you rightly said).

Fast forward a few hours and I got an email inviting me to York Academy next Monday! Even more nervous about this "assessment event" than I was for the video interview!!

Anyone lurking around who can share some tips regarding the assessment event? :)

Thanks!!
Joseph :)

Guess I can shed some light on the Assessment day.

Well done on passing the video interview, with a bit of prep they are quite straight forward.

Turn up at York, have a cuppa, get informed about the conpany and what the job is like. Then the group will split into 2 for either interviews or a group task (assuming it's the same format). Just be yourself and friendly and it should be ok.

I managed to get the job! I'm glad that interview is over. All very competency based, they wanted a specific example of lots of different customer service situations.

Unfortunately (perhaps devastatingly) I'm at college for the induction dates so I've had to turn them down. Absolutely gutted to have gotten this far and to lose out on my dream job over that!

Best of luck to anyone applying - hopefully you have the gist of what to expect after reading this thread! It's actually quite a good recruitment process, as recruitment processes go...

That's a shame, well done on getting through!

I am unfortunately still waiting for an update from last month, unsure if I am in the talent pool or if the position has been removed.

I attended an assessment day last week for a position in Leeds ( unsuccessfully!) so it might be that they are waiting on a few more trainee's before they start the course.

Currently on the induction for CSA post, nobody is on it from Leeds so they maybe waiting for more candidates from Leeds. It took 3 1/2 months from assessment to start date so I wouldn't worry. Things just take time it seems.

Hi
Yes I am also still waiting , they've been in touch a couple of times In response to my emails advising me that there has been some internal changes and apologising for the delay and that contracts will be sent out shortly , but still no date or contract :(
I was hoping I would be well on my way with then by now but trying to be patient. Hope this helps you , I am still really keen on working for east coast so fingers crossed we will hear from them shortly. I was interviewed feb so it's been a while but from what I have heared this us normal.
