I have noticed a couple of times east coast have cancelled a train and the ran an additional train later. For example today the 0930 Edinburgh - kings cross was cancelled. An additional train was ran at 1020 with the same calling points or the 0930 running 50 minutes late. The did this with the 0755 Inverness service during the snow. Is this simply to prevent passengers with AP tickets further down the line avoid more delay. So in this case people at Newcastle could join the 1130 as the train the were booked on was cancelled rather than wait for the late train?
