Easit discount question

I use 7-day season tickets for my PAD-RDG commute. I have an Easit card which gives me 15% discount on this. http://www.easit.org.uk/rail.php

On the first two occasions that I used this discount card, I was able to buy a 7-day season for Zones 1-6 to Reading. My ticket was marked DISC and a 15% discount was applied. The ticket cost £127.30 - 15% = £108.21

I have since been told I was sold this incorrectly and that the Easit scheme only applies to a London Terminals to Reading 7-day season (and not to a Zones 1-6 travelcard). Is this correct?

Is it somehow possible to get a Zone 1-6 season and use Easit (even if the Easit discount isn't applied to the travelcard portion of the cost)? I realise I could just buy a zones 1-6 travelcard separately from my National rail 7-day season but it works out more expensive (15% off or not).

So you can only get a ticket between Reading and London Terminals.

Where exactly do you commute to, how frequently and at what time of day as we may be able to advise an alternative.

Does that suggest you can buy a reading to zone R456 and then an oyster 123?

I think that the answer to this is: No. This quote comes from the rules about Easit availability on Southern. The full quote is:

Southern 15% discount OR...
20% discount online for single/return journeys only (see above)
Available every day across the whole network (except central London zones 1, 2 & 3). Members can also benefit from using their easitCARD to Gatwick Airport and stations along the route between Redhill and Guildford. Southern Discount Zone Map click here.

Valid on: Peak & Off Peak, Singles, Returns, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Annual and First Class tickets.

All tickets types may be purchased from a Southern ticket office. Singles & returns (only) can also be purchased online (see above).

You will require an easitCARD to take advantage of the discounts available.

And the accompanying map shows Southern routes, including Southern-served stations in Zones 6 to 4 (but not 3 to 1). So my reading is that rail-only tickets can benefit from Easit on Southern routes in zones 6 to 4. As this is Southern, it does not appear to assist the OP.
