Earthquake

All this talk of a few tiles coming off. Typical Britain. What if we had an earthquake on the size of what the USA gets. Now that WOULD be something to talk about.

And no, I didn't feel anything here. Well, I was sleeping anyway.

Well I was actually at work at the time (in London) and didn't feel anything (I was awake ). However, being stuck between two railway lines and next to road with a speed hump, it is doubtful that I would have noticed as the place shakes when a train or large vehicle goes past anyway.

Erm, if you had been within 20 miles of the epicenter (like myself and Jordy), your thoughts and comments would be completely different.

Obviously you didn't wake up being flung from one side of the bed to the other, then onto the floor, (yes, that happened to me.) What about watching all the furniture shake and bang into other bits? You didn't hear the noise and think "Oh s**t, there's a jet on final approach to my bedroom!"

Also, I take it you didn't have to drive to work dodging branches that have fallen of trees during the earthquake....

Your attitude seems to be, "It didn't happen in St Albans, so it can't be important." You were the same during the floods and storms last year. Perhaps when something happens again up North, you should visit the area to see how people have been affected. Until then, keep your smart arse comments to yourself and grow up....

I Live approx 40/50 Miles away in Nottingham and it was quite violent

Quite a lot of stuff fell off the shelves and the furniture was re-arranging itself !

Well said David. I have family in Grimsby so no doubt they would've had been shaken around like you did, and if any of them got hurt it wouldn't be a laughing matter. Wonder how Mr 313 will like it if the epicentre was in St Albans?

Anyway I felt it here in Wigan. I was in a dream then suddenly it started to shake, but I didn't wake me up. Honestly thought I was dreaming it until my mate picked me up for college this morning and said "did you feel the earthquake?"

We were shaken around really badly here too and that was 50 miles away, dread to think how it could have been closer to the epicentre.

my grandparents live a few miles from market rasen in lincolnshire (the epicentre) and didn't feel it as much as I did in nottingham. Ironically, the BGS's server went down this morning, yet as those studying in the USA heard by phone from over here, the USA knew about it by internet before us!

Now that is something that did affect me. Something that actually was scary. Something that was much worse than a earthquake IMO.

I remember seeing the cloud of blackness n stuff when I went into college on the day of the explosion. Quite strange!
As for the earthquake.. I slept through it like usual

Well, I only live 35 miles or so away from the epicentre, and both myself and my two sisters managed to sleep through! My mum woke up though, she thought she was going mad

Whilst I was on the damn N8 home last night i was on MSN to one chick who told me about it and she was in COV, i didnt feel it as the bus ride was bumpy enough anyway, more people in the Midlands and North West felt it. Only that upon reading the paper, it was felt at Brighton with a 5.1 reading!!

There was one in america with the most damage 300 km away.
