Early morning FCC services from Selhurst

There are a couple of early morning FCC services that start from Selhurst and head north. Looking at Realtime Trains, the stock that forms them comes from Cricklewood Depot. I'm sure they used to come from Selhurst Depot. Perhaps that changed with the latest timetable updates, but I wonder what this might mean in the long term for these services.

There are a couple of early morning FCC services that start from Selhurst and head north. Looking at Realtime Trains, the stock that forms them comes from Cricklewood Depot. I'm sure they used to come from Selhurst Depot. Perhaps that changed with the latest timetable updates, but I wonder what this might mean in the long term for these services.

It must be 5-6 years since these came of selhurst depot regularly, both come from cricklewood one comes into the down platform, change ends and back out, the other goes via west Croydon into the bay and back out, sometimes mainly Monday mornings the units may come from smithfields sidings or the bays at blackfriars.
When the TL core was shut overnight one came from selhurst and one from Gatwick airport CHS. Hope that helps in the long run these May well stay or be extended back to caterham ot somewhere else.

Doing a day-by-day check, the 30 June shows both Selhurst Depot and Blackfriars as the originating points for these services. Glad to know they're not going anywhere as I use the later one on occasions.

Looks like there might be some hefty engineering works that weekend as on the Sunday there are about 10 movements in and out he depot and that by FCC standards in unheard of.

Looking into it there is a full block of the TL core route.

The one which comes via West Croydon keeps drivers route knowledge up for that move in case of diversions in disruption. It's the only FCC booked via the curve into Selhurst.

I used these trains quite regularly (From Selhurst) when I worked at Kings Cross and they always seemed a waste of two 8 cars. They do get quite busy South of the river now with a large Polish ridership into the building sites of central London evident.

I would have thought they could be 4 cars that would free up another 2 x 4 for better peak use, but I am no train planner and know that the balancing workings the evening before have as much impact as common sense does.

They certainly made getting in for early shifts very easy....

I know there was at least one timetable when one of the 8 cars just went straight in the CS, good to see the diagrammers getting more out of them.

No to so nice to do am all stops service from Selhurst to Bedford on the end of a night shift ! Some of the Gatwick Express shunt turns have an out and back working after night shunt turns. These are not popular either!
