Hello :)

This Sunday I'm visiting someone in Cardiff for the day, travelling from Bath Spa..just that the earliest train gets to Cardiff at 12.44?!

I was wondering how lenient they would be with me taking the 08:28 to Swindon and changing there arriving at Cardiff at 11:08...I'm pretty sure that's not an allowed route but they're not giving me much option? Pretty poor service even for a Sunday.

Thanks for any help offered.

Theres normally engineering works on the Severn Tunnel at weekends, but this weekend this has been cancelled.

I don't think the journey planners have been updated to show this yet.

I don't think that's a permitted route I'm afraid, regardless of whether the first train of the day doesn't arrive until 1244 :(

That is pretty bad though, I agree.

I can't seem to find a cheap way to get a return either as I'm alright coming back the normal way...I've emailed in hope they might allow it. Plus that 1244 train involves leaving Bath at 0943, pretty eyewatering for Bath to Cardiff :|

Doesn't it depend on how clean up for the accident near Gloucester goes?

FGW informed me that I'd be allowed to go via Swindon at no extra cost in this case, so case closed really :D

Kudos to FGW here. Make sure you take a printout of their email/letter when you travel.
