E tickets Watford Junction to Liverpool Lime Street

Previously I have purchased e tickets on this route with no issue.

Several weeks ago I purchased an advance no problem for my partner to travel. Not knowing what time she would be returning I did not purchase a return in the knowledge that an off peak single is not much more than an advance.

On the day of travel I found that e tickets were not available for the return trip. I have now tried several dates in the future and e-tickets are not available using Avanti booking engine and tried GWR also.

No issue booking between WFJ and Manchester.

Why?

Avanti have made some changes in this area recently, after I asked them to enable more Liverpool tickets for E-Ticket fulfillment.

I wonder if they've unintentionally caused some flows to regress back to paper tickets only.
