on a Northern train from Manchester Oxford Road to Warrington Central, my e-ticket came up as "invalid" on the inspectors machine.
The ticket in question was a return leg of an Anytime Day Return from Warrington to Manchester Stations, purchased through the Avanti app (it was what was on my phone), and the inspector seemed to be using one of those mobile phone-like devices which gives a screenful of data.
Does anyone have any idea why the ticket would show up as invalid?
in the event, we agreed that I had a valid ticket and the machine was wrong, but I could see a dispute with a less sensible inspector could have gotten a bit stupid.
