E&P stands for "Electrical and Plant".

The activity covers everything from station lighting and PA systems to points heating, train heating supply points and depot electrical services - in fact pretty much everything that runs electrically up to 650V.

You will definitely need to know the latest IEEE Regs and be able to do power calculations, voltage drop calculations, and calculate cable sizes as an absolute minimum.

As a new TO would you be expected to know all that detail from the start?
When I started as a TO in Civils the required knowledge came through experience and day release at college
