Duty station manager

Hi all, greater anglia are looking for a duty station manager at Liverpool Street.

As per they have not stated they pay, only shown it as "excellent"

Would anyone have an idea of what region this would be?

I'm seeking a new role but my current salary of £57k is a bit of a golden hand cuff, so don't want to waste my time applying if it is significantly less

I would be very surprised if it was as much as you're on now for a duty manager. In London somewhere between 30 and 40 grand perhaps?

I think from memory Chiltern advertised station manager at Marylebone at £38k a couple of weeks ago. Obviously Liverpool Street is far busier in terms of passenger numbers and the people you would be responsible for. Generally they ask on the application form what you would be expecting in salary I would imagine if your way out of their grading you wouldn't be shortlisted. Give it a go though!

Aye - but Chiltern manage Marylebone whereas as Liverpool Street is a Network Rail managed station so I would imagine the responsibilities to be rather different.

The Duty Station Manager vacancy at Watford is shown at £34k, so I would imagine somewhere £35-40k for Liverpool Street. Better stay put

I know I'm a bit late to the party but if I recall correctly, I remember hearing sometime ago that a Duty Station Manager at London Waterloo (South West Trains) became a Commercial Guard. He preferred Commercial Guard because he still gets a similar salary if not higher than a DSM (by the time you include overtime, commission, etc...) and the job is less stressful. I don't know for sure what a DSM gets for South West Trains at London Waterloo, but based on this I would guess just under £40K.

Money isn't always the be all and end all. I don't know what you're doing now for £57k, but think about not just a cut in salary, but also what other benefits might or might not be involved, plus thing slike the work life balanbce of different roles.

I believe (at SWT at least) that it's negotiable a lot of the time, and dependent on experience. I recall a DSM for NWR at Waterloo getting a 50k salary a few years ago, but NWR do tend to pay quite well. A DSM at smaller stations often only gets about 26k.
