Duty Station Manager. Virgin Trains.

Hi guys,

Just looking for any info from any Virgin station staff regarding the recent vacancy for Duty Station Manager based at Euston.

Things i'm looking to find out are shift pattern, start/finish times, what the actual job entails etc.

Also, with the recent franchise drama, will it be a secure job working for Virgin?

You have to be quick as I believe it closed on the 28th of this month didnt it?

More than likely earlies/lates roughly 0600 - 13/400 then 13/1400 - 2000 and maybe a night but I am not sure. They may even have 3 shifts so they cover the first out and last in every day.

Have you any station experience at all?

The deadline was midnight yesterday, for the DSM at Euston. Vacancies are usually posted on the website on a Thursday/Friday and there is usually two weeks to submit an application. However, some vacancies, such as the DSM vacancy are only open for a week. Good luck with joining Virgin, I'm in my 7th year and haven't looked back

The vacancy was on the internal site twice (one secondment, one permanent) for longer than the position shown on the external site. If you're interested in working on the station badu, why not apply to be a Welcome Host for London Midland instead? They also have a vacancy for their ticket office!

I work in a Station already mate. I've had experience managing a Station previously. Just wondered what the role at Virgin entails. I would like to work for Virgin and have applied for the job at Euston. Would hope its a secure career, especially with the franchise potentially being up again.

The role will be roughly the same as any duty manager role no matter what TOC. Ive certainly seen no differrence over the years.

The job should be secure as you would get TUPE'd over same as the rest of the staff but whether the new franchisee would want that amount of chiefs to start off with is very very hard to tell.
