Dusseldorf to Venlo

Hi all

I'm in Germany on Saturday 16th March and I'm off to Venlo from Dusseldorf.

Based on my planned itinerary... (yes I'm watching the football at VVV that night)

1648 to 1756 - Dusseldorf Hbf to Venlo - Eurobahn

2205 to 2236 - Venlo to Monchengladbach Hbf - Eurobahn
2254 to 2328 - Monchengladbach Hbf to Dusseldorf Hbf - S Bahn

What is the cheapest way of doing this journey? And are ticket machines over in Germany likely to have an English option? I've used metro machines in Madrid and they have Spanish, French, German and no English :-x

These journeys are integrated in the VRR Verbundtarif (http://vrr.de/en/index.html). Düsseldorf-Venlo is price level E and the day ticket for 27.40 € seems to be the cheapest option - especially if you have the chance to add some more journeys before you head to Venlo (e.g. go to Wuppertal for the Schwebebahn - included).

While local buses and trams in Düsseldorf are included, local buses in Venlo are not.

Yes, generally the ticket machines have an English option.

It looks as though you've given yourself an hour or more's leeway on the outward journey - Eurobahn isn't known for being punctual and if it's bad they may turn back at Kaldenkirchen on the German side of the border...
