Durham service 204 & 204A

Hi all,

I'm new to the "bus" side of things, but I was wondering if anyone knew where to find out who a new operator of a bus was going to be.

I've been told that:

Service 204 & 204A

The contract for this service has been awarded by Durham County Council to another operator (from Go North East). Their last day of operation will be Saturday 29 October.

Does anyone know where to look to find out anything more?

Interesting that they have taken not just the Scarlet Band work but also the Go North East and the 61/62 from Arriva.

As an NE ex-pat, it's both astonishing and depressing how much former United territory/operation is now elsewhere, courtesy of Arriva. In fact, I may be wrong but the Go NE 204/204A were originally the United/Arriva 60/61

As an ex-Durham student I'm amazed how much has changed since I was living in Gilesgate Moor in 2001-4. Arriva had a strong city network with regular buses- the 62 was every 20 minutes, the 63/64 combined every 10 minutes- and it's all pretty much gone. They were always busy but Arriva decided to pursue cost-cutting, frequencies were reduced and I think management expected they'd have as many passengers with fewer buses. It's a real shame.
