A friend of mine is planning to purchase an Off Peak Return from Doncaster to Dundee.
Is she allowed to break her journey on the outward trip?
Also coming back from Dundee she want to stop off at Saltburn and Northallerton-are these permissible routes and if not what would be the best options?
thanks in advance for your help.

The Off-Peak Return is code 3V, which allows break of journey on the outward leg.

Stopping at Northallerton is fine.

Saltburn, won't be valid as, being at the end of a line, will involve doubling back. The ticket is valid as far as Thornaby, but your friend will need a return form there to Saltburn.

With regards to cost, we might be able to advise with details of when this is? Presumably this isn't a day trip? It wouldn't be possible in a day - there'd have to be an overnight stop somewhere.

She's not sure when she will be travelling but around end of June for a week and would like the flexibility of not being restricted to Advance tickets.
The off peak return on East Coast website is £144-is it the same price to simply turn up at a ticket office on the day and buy it?

There is no walk-on fare priced at £144. The Anytime Return is £138 and the Off-Peak Return is £114. These two fares are available on the day.
