Dublin to Dublin Port

I'm just curious on the walking route from Dublin CC to the port, I need to get to Terminal 1, Irish Ferries

Basically, from the city centre to the terminal is 2 miles, so that's under an hour, but what is the route like nearer the port? Is it foot passenger-friendly?

Walked it in daylight in 2019 and found it not very pleasant, but bearable. Not sure there's been much change since, but there's at least a pavement for the whole route, albeit narrow in some spots. Wouldn't recommend in darkness. Mostly surrounded by port perimeter fencing so no views, and a lot of passing HGVs. For previewing, it's all on Google Map Streetview and there's some YouTube vloggers who've done it, e.g.

Is it foot passenger-friendly?

It's certainly a safe walking route with proper crossings. Tediously long though, if the bus is an option then do take it! The 53 (like all of the municipal buses) either needs a leap card or exact change (no notes). Single fare €2.60. The 853 only takes contactless and is around €5.

What's changed since 2019 is the Dublin Port Greenway, a walking/cycling route separated from the roads. Unfortunately it is on the north perimeter of the port complex so isn't the shortest route towards the city centre.

The only time I did it was quite a few years ago to get to a SteamPacket sailing off the north wall....Mona's Queen I think
It was noticeable that as drivers parked up to visit the local pubs they were unbolting their car steering wheels and taking them with them in an attempt to stop car thefts. I went into one pub and the coatrack was full of wheels....and I clearly wasn't welcome
It was damned rough then and while it may have improved I somehow doubt it

A bit late, but the Greenway is really nice! If you have the time, I recommend walking that route.
