DF450 of Dublin Bus is a survivor. New with Metsec body in 1972 to CIE, based at Summerhill Garage for the city services division, it was used mainly on routes 20B and 22. It was still there when Dublin Bus was formed in 1987, and got converted to open top in 1988.
It was later reroofed, using a roof from a withdrawn Atlantean, and became the first Dublin Ghost Bus, with RH41 following later.
At 42 years old, it's both the only remaining ex CIE vehicle in the Dublin Bus fleet, and the longest surviving CIE group vehicle ever. But, its time is up, as it that of RH41, as two Volvo B7TLs are now converted to ghost buses.
So, does anyone know what is now going to happen to DF450 and also to RH41, which are the only remaining closed top Leyland double deckers both with Dublin Bus and indeed the CIE group?
