They didn't and they haven't got a handle on them.
Trip.con are just as bad.
Went onto their site this afternoon in an attempt to claim the Black Friday 50% off rail travel offer.
The offer was launched at 4pm, and I was there ready to claim as soon as the clock hit 4pm.
Needless to say the 'something went wrong error' occured (funny how this always seems to be the case).
They are offering 8% off prices, which does seem to work.
However, their big offers do seem a con to me.
It would be interesting to know of anyone has been able to claim one of their big offers.

Trip. Con apparantly has 1000 £1 tickets going online at 00:00 on 29th November.
What is the bet that the 'something has gone wrong' error occurs at that late hour.
However, I can confirm the 8% offer does work, as I've done some planned trip planning for the weekend, and the discount is reflected in the price.
Shows how good my geography is... these prices are possible... with advance child/16-17 Saver tickets.
These limited drop deals and "5% Off with our app" are always signs of dodgy behaviour... it's reminding me of Temu.
I hope you have spun the wheel for that mythical £30 this week.
What I find suspect is that you can click on these deals at 1 second past launch time and still get the 'something went wrong' error message.
I highly doubt the 50% off was there to begin with.
Just a false offer to tempt people to their Black Friday page.
With Trainpal, I've signed up for notification of this mythical 20% Trainpal Card - if it ever does appear.
Luckily, I don't (and refuse to) have my payment details saved on Trainpal.
It is a pain to input details every time, however knowing what a cowboy outfit they are, would not be surprised if unauthorised payments occured.
It doesn't help that HotUKDeals often posts Trip.com offers as 'hot deals' and this likely takes a lot of people to the site, who then discover that things aren't usually what they seem.
A lot of people do comment after a while that it's likely a scam, but how many people read the comments - especially if signed up for the IM notifications?
I do wish HUKD would block the site entirely so these fake offers weren't posted as amazing super-hot deals.

I do have my suspicions as to the links between HUKD and some of the retailers they partner with.

I believe a lot of them have been scrapped on Tiktok that previously advertised the dubious 'staff sales' and 'cheaper to buy onboard' replaced with weird 'facts' like 'the shortest journey is between St Budeaux Victoria Road' and 'St Budeaux Ferry Road' when there isn't even a journey between them.
Even if the prices are real, Eurostar got pulled up for advertising "Prices from..." as the quoted price didn't represent a significant proportion of advertised fares.

Indeed. AIUI they have to offer at least 10% of tickets at the teaser price, with a reasonable spread across departures.

After a break I've started to see these again...

Makes me fearful of ever using SkyScanner again since they were bought out, especially as they're talking so much about using AI to improve their services - which I'd say will do anything but.
That explains why their apps and advertising are equally as terrible as each other!
The only thing they do correctly is send the booking confirmation and e-tickets in one email. I still don't understand why Trainline/TOC retailers send the booking confirmation instantly, followed by the e-tickets 10 minutes later.

The wisdom used to be that some email filtering systems would get upset by an email with attachments, and could delay it from entering the recipients inbox (or hold it in the aether). As such, you send two emails - one with a ref number and perhaps some links to download the E-Tickets (which is much more likely to get through, without being delayed by the recipient's email system), and additionally the email with them attached. Certainly with the forum's ticketing system they are sent at exactly the same time, so any delay to one and not the other will be down to the mail server it's sent to.
