DSD Hold over (377)

Can someone please clarify what this button is actually there for on a 377 unit?

I have seen a few people using them in strange ways the last few weeks and I just wondered why they were actually put there in the first place especially as at Southern we don't stand for dispatch in a 377 unit?

That's what we were told the DSD holdover was for in a 319, though its on the secondman side instead of by the cab door.

Probably makes sense on a 377 though i'm not sure how easy it would be to look back, adjust the CPBC while holding the DSD holdover button all at once.

The one on the second mans side is there for look back dispatch so that the DSD signal box alarm doesn't go off and you don't need to put it into neutral, although most would if leaving the seat.

They can be useful for driving when standing up.

I didn't know there was one on the second man side in a 377. To drive standing up fold the seat down but it takes getting used to.

And an aching finger/thumb after a while!

I do think there is a holdover on the second mans side of a 377-there is on 319/321/456 though.
