I'm puzzled.

If he was also the guard, how did the doors come to be closed and the brake interlock released from outside the train?

Did he forget to operate the local door switch? Even if so, how was the ready to start signal then given to the driver?

I hate to speculate .. but when you're that hammered .. the logical explanation is that he gave the buzzer to depart, closed local door and stumbled out before it closed.

equally baffled however it amazes me he was able to get away with this for what must have been a period of time - you dont just develop a problem overnight and also if the staff member at dundee could smell him then why didnt the passengers, driver or stuard? If they did, they should have reported to police, or I would have.

Just marvellous.

Exactly what we could have done without, especially given recent events !

What is it with Scotsmen and alcohol for Gods sake !

I had a drink with a couple of smashing Glasgow guys recently who thought that Ayrshire Coast people were quite odd in that they went on THREE day drinking binges. Apparantly this was beyond the pale, although a TWO-day drinking binge was quite in order, and indeed a regualr occurrence in their lives !

with the zero tolerence rules in place i'm amazed he got passed his Signing on Point, let alone onto a train!

exactly. There is sometimes a crewe change at dundee but the majoritty of these runs are worked through at least as far as ABD with a mixture of aberdeen, dundee and Edinburgh men and some from perth and glasgow

Surely no-one is suggesting the majority of Scotrail staff are stocious? Or are they?

All apart from Dundee have a TCS so if it was a Dundee guard it would have been remote booking on.

Last one to get sacked started drinking while on duty. In that case it was down to "personal" problems.
