I was wondering that as well. Wonder why it wasn't electronic form.
If they are putting people in b&bs they must be looking for a few people. Can't be worth the effort for less than 10 can it?

As long as it's readable you should be ok. Most doctors cant write! Anyone applying that's been on this website should stand a better chance I would Of thought.
Did you get an acknowledgement? I did when I asked for the application pack but not when I submitted the actual application. It weighed in at 6.5 meg once I scanned it in but I assumed their email server would bounce it back if it was too big.
I really tried with the writing but what will be will be

Ditto, I'm a lefty, so I got the missus to read it...she is my worse critic when it comes to my writing and she managed. So should be fine in my case
Yes I've heard the same, is it to do with the patterns of the shifts / hours worked? Does anyone know how this typically works?

I don't know why DRS have such a bad reputation. Their traction is Clagtastic!
Indeed, qualified drivers don't stay there long once they realise what the score is.
I might be glad if I don't get a job there if what I hear about them is true. Bloke in 2 allotments up drives for scotrail but used to be drs and told me today the best thing he's ever done is leave drs cause of their bullying of drivers.
Not trying to catch anyone out, but there is a lot of negative posting about DRS. Has anyone got any specific examples of why, or is it all just rumours and hearsay? I have also asked on another forum and have been told if you are new to driving they will be as good as anyone. Seems to me that the hours and type of work may be the issue, or possibly some of the dated traction. But there are pros as well as cons, surely?

For someone getting into the industry any driver job is a drivers job - as bad as the working hours/conditions might be i'd jump at the chance.
Must have done as they had a course that started in January
Must either have took on more work or have drivers jumping ship

We got a guy driving for us who is ex-DRS. Most of the drivers there are enthusiasts. He knows of a guy who deliberately spilt his tea all over the desk of a 66 just so he could have the standby machine, a particularly loud 37. These same colleagues will stitch you up so they can have a nice jaunt out on a 37 or a 20, and leave you with the crap jobs, sat sweltering on a Yingy Shed all day. The hours are ****, the work is boring, and the managers think they are better than the drivers. That was his take on it, anyway.

There is more to add. Most of the drivers as you say are cranks. They offer to work their rest days for free taking money out of other drivers pockets, they will deliberately try to poach jobs off of other drivers so to work the old traction, most of the work is nights or long shifts, a lot of the time you are after rest, the depot is run by cranks for cranks. This is fine if you fit this bill however any driver who is in it for the job and not a hobby and is from another company will be complaining within weeks and wanting to leave. I have heard that they will fail a 66 for no reason to get better (for them) traction costing the company money. These above are quotes I have heard from ex DRS and current DRS drivers whether they are true or not is another thing but the sources to me are very reliable.

Fairly similar to what I heard then, TDK. I'd go anywhere to get hold of a key, and DRS work trains into DIRFT (not far from me) but I wouldn't even briefly consider going there to get my key. Not for all the tea in China.

D R S may get some stick, but don't most companies get it from people who work there?

Takes 5 years to go onto full drivers salary under new trainee contract, I left DRS as a trainmen to go driving with another FOC, DRS offered me a driving job not at a location suitable for me (400 miles from home), the rostering is ok, not as bad as people make out, at my depot none of the drivers failed locos!! I thinks been exaggerated. My experience you'll get done over by Aslef or DRS themselves! Not the drivers
Too many desperate candidates who think that it is a must to become a train driver no matter what the cost, well it will not take long to realise it may have been worth waiting for something that is easier, convenient and better on the soul. However carry on people it isn't any good listening to a person who has been on both sides is it?
