DRS Qualified driver application confusion !!!

Hi All

Confused, Qualified driver, ten years experience, freight, passenger, OTM, 100% clean safety record. Sat Psycho test with EWS Doncaster.

Saw DRS advertising, applied, got invite to go and see them through post which had shed load of psycho test stuff in the envelope.

Phoned them up, they replied that yes there was the psycho test to sit and that was standard with them for all positions.

I would like to know the implications as a qualified driver of resitting and FAILING the psycho test !!

I thought it was a one off and I was ten years younger when I first sat it.

Obviously I could just say NO THANKS, but I did fancy a change but before I make a decision I wondered if anyone had any thoughts and input please

That's the way companies work these days! What's good enough for one organisation isn't necessarily good enough for the other! I have passed all my driver tests but not given a job due to no vacancies. I was under the impression I could use the results to apply elsewhere and not have to sit them again, but two TOCs that I enquired with have told me I must do their own! Even though I'm certain they are exactly the same tests!!! :-x

Besides, I've heard that DRS are not the best company to work for so why the change?

Some drivers do not like DRS, but any thing must be better than EWS.
EWS/DB must rank as this countires worst rail employer.
This is where bullying and harrassment are parts of the working day.

I've come across similar issues as a Guard, it would appear that the term 'Qualified' has selective meaning these days!! From a purely common sense point of view I can't see how a person could 'de-qualify' themselves for a job they already do? The worst case scenario presumably would be the firm you have applied for writing back and saying no thanks, I doubt they would go to the trouble of contacting your current employer and telling them you didn't pass their test! And even if they did, if there is so little cohesion between tests with different FOCs/TOCs I don't see as it could make any difference to anybody? I'd talk to your Rep.

Ain't that the truth. I bailed out of EWS four years ago taking a pay cut to do so. My only regret is that I put up with working for those *******s longer than I could have done and didn't bail out years before.

I'd bet there are a few DBS drivers who'd argue over the 'award' of worst rail employer in the UK
