what is the meaning behind this headboard, seen it on a DRS 37 and now seen it on a stoneblower ?

It's probably just a driver from Drs in London, most Drs depots have a headboard, this one comes from London. You tend to see these headboards on trains not normally considered a 'normal' thing for the driver/depot to do.
