Any supporting evidence ?

From what I'd read - here and elsewhere - the general consensus was that 9016 was in pretty poor condition and needed a mini-overhaul; one engine out of action, bodywork in a poor condition. Could this all have been done in that timeframe ? And get Mainline clearance ?

Shouldn't be too much of a problem, I gather Cl37/50/55 bogies (CP7?) are interchangable without too much bother, maybe a speed restriction.

Never seen a Deltic running, would love to see her in use! Get yer fingers out DRS!

As a business DRS aren't playing a smart game at this moment in time considering there are no mainline Deltics and this would be the perfect time to produce the goods.
But then again HNRC may have a unknown role in the non story which is happening as of late.

DRS payed over £100,000 for her minus the bogies so I can hardly see them scrapping her...

Given the choice of one of their many 66s or the one 55 to haul a freight train, I think I can guess which one they'd go for.

Will it really though? i mean think of its age although it will probally use less than a 66 in general would it still work out much cheaper than if it was new

They're just as powerful at the engine, but the 66 has almost double the maximum torque of the 55, plus it's newer and more reliable, and if things do go wrong, it's gonna be a lot more difficult and expensive to get parts for the 55.
