£39 first-class seating from Workington to York! thats cheap....

Looks to be a good day out, not much passenger stock over Carlisle Bog Junction these days (wonder why not visiting Carlisle though).

Its for charity, so my bookings in. Apparantly its a new group organising the tour (all various railway employees) 12D Railtours? wonder if they have any plans after this charity train, would be great to see more loco excursions out of Cumbria.

Come on folks lets get behind them for this one.

Looking at the sectional appendix isn't Mark3 coaching stock barred from Maryport to Bog/Currock Junction? Has Network Rail now passed this part of the route.

PS: my cheque has been posted to spitfire!

Mk. 3 stock has already operated on that route on a tour - the Retro Railtours 20 trip via the Cumbrian Coast last year features a couple of Mk. 3 coaches in the consist.

My fault, it seems that special instruction has to be given by Network Rail, that operators of Mark2, Mark3 drop-light window stock has to have a member of staff in each coach door area on the section between Maryport-Carlisle to ensure no one put their head out of the windows! I believe this is due to former limited gauge issues on the former M&C railway.

Mk3 stock travels the route every day at the moment with the DRS/Northern flood ex special. Granted they only work Workington to Maryport.

I worked the stock last year from Carlisle to Whitehaven for the Community Rail awards and the onlytime we needed people on doors was when we went through the tunnels. I suppose that's why the old railcars on that route used to have bars over the windows.
